I’ve not been very good at introductions because I have always found the nature of those initial interactions a little unnerving. I found this introduction difficult to write too, despite knowing that I have a lot of potentially useful things to say.
Did I give a good account of myself or was I too talkative? Did I speak too quickly? Could I have rubbed him/her/them up the wrong way?
It always stems from wanting to make a good first impression and this journal is no different. I love ‘the middle’, the act of doing and implementing but find ‘the start’ more uncomfortable. Look at this as the documentation of ‘the middle’. In fact, this piece on effort explores the ‘middle’ so well that it pushed me into birthing this idea.
The journal will be made up of two main parts; journal entries and project posts. Journal entries will explore and sometimes challenge common tropes or practices within Talent Identification & scouting. Project posts on the other hand will be a presentation of projects I am working on in my spare time.
I would never claim to be the authority on all things scouting and have always been obsessed with ensuring my work speaks for itself. That being said, I just hope that through this journal I am able to help others develop whilst doing the same.
Happy reading!
